Interestingly, the word "influence" as we use it is not even found in the Scriptures. The word God uses is "rule." A person's influence, then, is the kingdom over which he rules. Both Godly and ungodly people are given areas to rule, and the extent of a person's rule is measured out to him by God. Since it is impossible for someone to simply walk away from his area of influence, parents, older siblings, and grandparents must all be very careful to make sure their influence is powerfully positive rather than negative. "To the world you might be one person, but to one person you might be the world." Ladies also must be careful because of the powerful influence they have over men. For those of us being influenced, we must be careful to guard ourselves against wrong influences, especially from good sources. We should also plan our lives so as to continue our influences after we are gone.

Dr. S. M. Davis has been married to RaeJean since 1969. They have four wonderful daughters who with their husbands are all actively serving the Lord. At the present time, the Lord has blessed them with eleven grandchildren. Dr. Davis has served the Lord in many different areas since surrendering to the ministry in 1967. He has been a minister of music and an associate pastor, and he is presently the Pastor of Park Meadows Baptist Church in Lincoln, Illinois, where he has served the Lord faithfully since 1975. A nationally-known speaker, Dr. Davis speaks at churches and conventions across the U.S. as well as in other countries.
