The Way of the Master gives light to an almost forgotten biblical key
that has the power to unlock the door of the human heart. This is the
proven and effective way of making the gospel make sense to the unsaved.
It is so rooted in the Scriptures, once you see it, you will forever
wonder how you could have missed it. It is the biblical principle of
bypassing the intellect (the place of argument) and speaking directly to
the conscience (the place of the knowledge of right and wrong) – the way
Jesus did.
It’s anecdotal, loaded with commentary and remarks that are more
conversational than academic. It’s an easy read with a hard message that
has already changed the face of sharing faith.

We have great focus on "prayer life" today, but consider A.W. Tozer's
quote (pg 8): "Have you noticed how much praying for revival has been going
on of late - and how little revival has resulted? I believe the problem is
that we have been trying to substitute praying for obeying, and it simply
will not work."
Ray describes the problems we have in our churches today by such statistics
as:
There surely is something very wrong with the behaviors of
self-professing Christians.
What do you hear when you listen to most popular teachers of our day? As Ray
elaborates "Unless you are familiar with the 'whole counsel of God' (Acts
20:26-27), you may not even notice what's missing. Do they faithfully preach
against sin? Do they preach righteousness and judgment (as Jesus did)? Do
they speak about true repentance (not simply a 'change of mind'), and warn
about the reality of Hell (as Jesus did)?" (pg.26) Listen to what John
Wesley said: "The very first end of the Law [is], namely, convicting men of
sin; awakening those who are still asleep on the brink of Hell... The
ordinary method of God is to convict sinners by the Law, and that only. The
gospel is not the means which hath ordained, or which our Lord himself used,
for this end." (pg. 84)
Where are popular teachers today that preach like Wesley did? This book is guaranteed to challenge all Christians, help them understand better the most important parable that Jesus told (per His own words in Mark 4:13), and walk you through the application and analysis of other important aspects of telling others about the hope you have within. Every chapter is filled with insights, Biblical teachings and exposition, plus commentary from Kirk at the end of the chapter. If you like this book, you may also like The Way of the Master: An Adventure in Biblical Evangelism (from the same authors).
